The aim of the project at hand was to disaggregate the energy and transport industries in the Swiss input-output tables (IOT) of the years 2001 and 2005. In the new energy related IOT (energy IOT in short), supply and demand of energy and transport services as well as the inputs of the energy and transport industries rely as far as possible on empirically based data (e.g. quantity and price data for energy use of industries, enterprise data and information from studies, industry associations and experts). The aim is to make an improved and harmonised data base available for energy, environmental or transport analysis and modelling.In this chapter some important aspects for users of the new IO table are briefly summarised. Details can be found in the respective chapters of this report.
