A pile of the foundation of the polyvalent building in the north quarter of the Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL) was equipped with a hydraulic circuit in order to be able to inject heat inside it (i.e. the pile was transformed into a heat exchanger pile). Load, deformation and temperature sensors were installed in the pile in order to assess the influence of thermal solicitations on the static behaviour of the pile.

Le but de ce projet est de tester en conditions réelles (dimensions, charges;..) le comportement statique d'un pieu échangeur et de son interface avec le terrain. Pour ce faire, un pieu (diamètre 880 mm, longueur 25 m) du bâtiment polyvalent du avec un circuit hydraulique pour pouvoir à l'aide d'un injecter de la chaleur (i.e. le pieu a été transformé en pieu échangeur à l'aide d'un module de chauffage spécial). Des capteurs de force, de déformation et des température ont été installés afin d'évaluer l'effet des solliciations thermo-mécaniques sur la statique de pieu
