The aim of the projects at hand was to disaggregate the energy and transport industries in the Swiss input-output tables (IOT) of the year 2014 and 2017. The projects build upon similar earlier studies. In the new energy related IOT 2014 and 2017 (energy IOT in short), supply and demand of energy and transport services as well as the inputs of the energy and transport industries rely as far as possible on empirically based data (e.g. quantity and price data for energy use of industries, enterprise data and information from studies, industry associations and experts). The aim is to make an improved and harmonised data base available for energy, environmental or transport analysis and modelling. However, the resulting energy IOT are not an official statistic but an empirically based estimation.
