Ziel dieser Studie ist die Entwicklung eines semiquantitativen Ernährungshäufigkeitsfragebogens (FFQ) unter Berücksichtigung des menuCH-Fotobuches und des an der ZHAW Wädenswil entwickelten FFQ. Die Weiterentwicklung wird auf Ergebnissen der menuCH-Studie basieren, der ersten repräsentativen Ernährungserhebung in der Schweizer Bevölkerung. Dieser einzigartige Ansatz wird es ermöglichen, ein online Ernährungserhebungsinstrument für die Schweizer Bevölkerung zur Verfügung zu stellen, das Vorteile gegenüber bestehenden Instrumenten bietet.

In einer aufeinander aufbauenden Vorgehensweise werden wir vorgängig die menuCH-Ergebnisse zur Entwicklung eines neuen FFQ (BLV Photobuch und Teile des ZHAW-Fragebogens) heranziehen. In diesen Prozess werden wir Vorschläge von Experten anderer Schweizer Sprachregionen einbeziehen. Basierend auf diesen Inputs wird der FFQ in Bezug auf Struktur, Lebensmittel, Fotos und weiteren Aspekten wie Benutzerfreundlichkeit (z.B. Compliance) überarbeitet. Das Instrument wird in ein State-of-the-Art Content-Management-System eingebettet, das viele Vorteile bezüglich der Nutzbarkeit in Forschungsprojekten bietet. Eine Validierung im Vergleich zum existierenden ZHAW-FFQ wird ebenso durchgeführt wie eine Erfassung der Reproduzierbarkeit. Die Ergebnisse werden zusammengefasst und für letzte Anpassungen genutzt.

Kurzbeschreibung (Englisch)

The aim of this study is to develop a semi-quantitative, food frequency questionnaire (FFQ), using the menuCH photo book and the framework of a semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire developed at ZHAW Wädenswil (the ZHAW FFQ). The development work will be based on results of the menuCH Survey, the first national, representative nutritional data of the Swiss population. This unique approach will deliver an web-based dietary assessment tool for an adult population in Switzerland with advantages over other existing tools.

Following a multi-stage approach, we first aim to use menuCH results to guide the development of the new composite FFQ (BLV photo book and parts of the ZHAW FFQ). In this process, we will also consider suggestions from experts in other language-regions in Switzerland. Based on these inputs, the FFQ will be optimized for structure, food items, photographs and other aspects of respondent usability (e.g. compliance). The tool will be implemented into a state-of-art content management platform, offering many advantages for research applications. A validation study will be conducted, by testing the tool against the validated ZHAW FFQ and also studying reproducibility. Results will be summarized, and used to make final adjustments.

Projektziele (Englisch)

Workpackage 1 – to examine the results of the National Nutrition Survey menuCH and conduct further targeted analyses as needed for the development of the new dietary assessment tool, a semi-quantitative FFQ for assessing dietary intake of adults in Switzerland; also to define the criteria for the developmental work conducted in WP2. 

 

Workpackage 2 – to develop the web-based and paper-form of the FFQ based on the results of WP1, with food item and questions visualized by menuCH photos (menuCH photo book) [35] and using the framework of the ZHAW FFQ , in two national languages, To implement the tool into an open-source on-line platform, allowing linking to the Swiss Food Composition Database, and webhosting.  

                                                 

Workpackage 3 –  to validate the newly developed FFQ against the ZHAW FFQ [18], to assess the reproducibility of the new FFQ, and also investigate important aspects of  respondant  usability (proofing in real-life context, compliance). Results will be used to adapt the final FFQ for optimal capture of habitual dietary intake of adults in Switzerland, in paper and web-based form.
