Kurzbeschreibung
(Deutsch)
Following the devastating cyclone “Sidr” and the subsequent floods through summer 2007, SDC’s Humanitarian Aid department engaged in a large-scale post-flood rehabilitation and early recovery support program. With a total budget of 7.6 million CHF, the program was implemented by various international and Swiss relief and development agencies (UNDP, FAO, Intercooperation) as well as local NGOs and included self-implemented activities of SDC’s Humanitarian Aid department. The Swiss emergency relief program was subject to external review, which was conducted by a team of Swiss and international experts in summer 2010. The review has assessed the relevance, effectiveness and efficiency of the program largely positively. It has in particular assessed the quality of cooperation between stakeholders in Bangladesh and between various Swiss and SDC players. The report offers useful recommendations for a follow-up hu-manitarian and early recovery program funded by SDC in Bangladesh.
