External evaluation of the Swiss engagement on business and human rights in Colombia

Short description (English)

The Human Security Division (HSD) of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs mandates an external, formative evaluation to review its activities in the area of Business and Human Right in Colombia. The evaluation will look at two Swiss sponsored initiatives, the “Guías Colombia”, elaborated by the Fundación Ideas para la Paz (FIP), and the “Compromiso Ético” (The Swiss Ethical Commitment), that has been initiated by the Swiss Embassy in Colombia. The objetives of the evaluation are to: • Analyze the validity of the Swiss Embassy’s current approach to the business and human rights issue in Colombia. • Generate lessons learned and identify best practices from the Swiss engagement in business and human rights in Colombia. • Serve as a basis for a strategy workshop on the Swiss engagement on business and human rights in Colombia. . The evaluation will be made available to all interested stakeholders, particularly within the FDFA and the SECO, an executive summary of the main findings will be made public. The evaluation will have to be completed until summer 2015 and is expected to produce recommendations for the future orientation of the Swiss activities in the field of business and human rights in Colombia and other contexts. The results of the evaluation shall serve as a basis for a strategy development workshop and for decision-making on how to continue (or not) with the two initiatives Compromiso Ético & Guías Colombia.
