The present project deals with the realization of a pilot installation of a Concentrated Solar Power plant at Biasca in Ticino. Solar energy is harvested using the innovative solar concentrator realized by Airlight Energy. The plant uses air as working fluid and has a rock packed bed thermal energy storage system. Hot air is conveyed in a Heat Recovery Steam Generator to produce steam that feeds a turbine connected to an electric generator to finally produce electric power.

Le présent projet a pour objet la réalisation d'une installation solaire pilote à concentration à Biasca (TI). L'énergie solaire est captée par le concentrateur solaire novateur développé par Airlight Energy. L'installation utilise l'air comme fluide caloporteur et un lit de roche compact en guise de système de stockage d'énergie thermale. L'air chaud est acheminé dans un générateur de vapeur à récupération de chaleur. La vapeur produite alimente une turbine reliée à un générateur électrique.

The present final report shows results of the research and development activity performed for the SolAir-2 and SolAir-Pilot project during year 2012. The partners working activities are focused on: Receiver development: - cavity receiver modeling and simulations; - multi-shields insulation modeling, simulation and testing. Energy storage system: - experimental void fraction measurement; - proposal of the test campaign for the new storage prototype.
