Development of Migration Strategies and Policy Formation:
ICMPD assists in elaborating and implementing long-term strategies to cope with growing migration flows and to work towardsa reinforcement of internationale migration co-operation so as to facilitate the development of regional concepts and systems for orderly migration.
Capacity Building and Training:
ICMPD is involved in capacity Building and training activities with a view to enhancing the capacities of mainly Central, Eastern and South Eastern European countries to effectively handle migration issues and challenges, and to become equitable partners in the new European co-operation structure.

Unterstützung und Ausarbeitung eines Konzeptpapieres in Bezug auf das Internationale Migrationssymposium "The Berne Initiative", welches im Juni 2001 von der Schweiz (BFF) durchgeführt wird.
