Abstract
(Englisch)
The general aim of the project is to allocate the raw material wood of the different Swiss tree species and timber qualities to exactly that use, that allows to profit best from its specific properties and that increases the added value in the whole wood-processing chain most.Since the beginning of 2001, we started to build a comprehensive knowledge base on an internet platform (http://www.betterwood.ch) to reach this aim. This internet platform will fulfil the following tasks: - it delivers general information about wood as a building material to future building owners, the final customers of the wood processing chain - it supports engineers and architects with detailed, adapted technical information about the different building parts - companies of the wood processing chain can place their company profile and links to their own homepages on the platform, which offers them an opportunity to be present on the internet even as a small company without an own homepage
