Abstract
(English)
In this project we work on synthesis and characterization of (hydr)oxide particles with different surface morphology and investigate their sorption and aggregation behavior. In the last project period we did concentrate mainly on two different types of hematite (a-Fe2O3) with different surface morphology, and have the characterization of the particles, which includes x-ray diffraction, electron microscopy, acid-base titrations and zeta potential measurements. The aggregation rate constants of these particles were determined with static and dynamic light scattering techniques. In particular, we have applied a variant of this methodology to measure the absolute rate constants in such systems, where the static and dynamic light scattering signal is measured and interprested simultaneously.
