Abstract
(English)
The project 'RealSim' (Real-time simulation for design of multiphysics systems) has been completed by October 31st 2002 after a prolongation of four months. The contribution of ABB to the 'RealSim' project was focused on power systems applications.

The main achievements resulting from the project are:

'Dymola-to-dSpace':
Automatic downloading of arbitrary, translated Modelica models to dSpace real-time simulation hardware allows convenient simulation without any use of third party products.

Spot:
The Modelica power systems library 'SPOT' is based on new concepts allowing the simulation of fast transients and quasi-stationary processes within the same framework. Modules, in particular for power electronic components, exist in fully time-resolved (slow) and in time-averaged (fast) versions. The components can be exchanged without any change of the common network neighbourhood.

ARTS:
Hardware-in-the-loop simulation of complete traction-chains for locomotives and trains saves a large number of cost-intensive test drives. A specialized library 'ARTS' for railway applications has been elaborated. It shares the concept with SPOT, but contains component models that are specialized and optimized for real-time and hardware-in-the-loop applications. Modelica allows a modular, customer-specific composition of complete locomotives that corresponds exactly to structure and composition of the real vehicle.

Detailed information is contained in the final report 'Experience with RealSim for Real-time Power Systems Applications' (Task5, D45).
