Abstract (English)

The Advanced Solid-State Lasers meeting has become one of the premier forums for the presentation of results on solid-state lasers and nonlinear frequency conversion, with typical international meeting attendance in the range of more than 300 in recent years. Advances in solid-state lasers, laser material, nonlinear optical materials, and high-power diode lasers are creating new capabilities and applications opportunities in medicine, spectroscopy, remote sensing, material processing, and communications. Advanced Solid-State Lasers has extended its traditional scope from solid-state laser materials and devices to include in recent years rapidly developing areas such as nonlinear frequency conversion, all-solid-state ultrafast lasers, fiber lasers and laser application.
This year was the first time that this meeing was taking place outside of USA in Europe. Davos was selected for this event. The ASSL 2000 conference was taking place in Davos from Feb. 13 to 16.
