Résumé des résultats (Abstract)
(Anglais)
The Laboratory of Ecosystem Management (GECOS) from the EPFL participated with success in the certification of the content of 12 ortho and 4 non-ortho chlorobiphenyls (CBs) in two different species of fish.
1) Twelve ortho-CBs (IUPAC nos. 28, 52, 101, 105, 118, 128, 138, 149, 153, 156, 170 and 180) were certified in a herring reference material.
After saponification of the sample and extraction with hexane, the extracts were cleaned with sulphuric acid and on column chromatography with silica-gel. The identification was done with a multidimensional GC (2 different columns) and ECD detection.
2) Four non-ortho CBs (IUPAC nos. 77, 81, 126 and 169) were certified in a chub reference material.
The CBs were extracted from the fish matrix by a mixture of acetone - hexane with an Ultraturrax in an ultrasonic bath. Extracts were cleaned with sulphuric acid and on column chromatography with acidic silica-gel. The non-ortho CBs were separated from the other CBs by carbon column chromatography. The identification was done with a multidimensional GC (2 different columns) and ECD detection. The amounts certified of the non-ortho CBs were very low, between 1.6 and 184.2 ng.kg-1.
