The purpose of the Bandwidth2000 project is to facilitate the introduction of three related Internet services, which support the telecommunications market place. These services are all related in that they all deal with the monetary (price comparison, accounting and billing, ordering and brokerage) aspects of telecommunications network services. These services are:· Tariff on Line (TOLL)· On Line Accounting (Hot Billing)· On Line Ordering (Hot Ordering)Objectives of Martel in the 2nd year¨ To define the evaluation and trial criteria for the On-Line Accounting, On-Line Ordering¨ To define the evaluation and trial criteria for the Tariff On Line service. ¨ To define the evaluation and trial criteria for On-Line Accounting service.¨ To define the evaluation and trial criteria for On-Line Ordering service.¨ To carry out the Trial B for the On-Line Accounting Service.¨ To carry out the Trial C for the On-Line Ordering Service.Achievements of Martel in the 2nd year· Defined and set up test scenarios and ATM-based Quality of Service parameters for Basel tests· Initial tests, based on ISABEL and Linux workstations are set up ready for tests once the LS 1010 switch operating system is upgraded to the same version as that of the WIT one· Have re-contacted Olivetti management for marketing presentation, who are waiting for Telecom Italia management's technical assessment inputs.· Took part in preparatory trials in Basle · Provided inputs to the revised Work Packages after the Audit recommendations for re-submission to the Commission.· QoS tests have been redefined to take into account latest development in transmission technology.· Initial tests have been further modelled in view of using Swisscom facilities in Berne. · Have found and used a new contact to inform Telefonica, the Spanish Service Provider. · Contacted the University of Stuttgart to investigate the feasibility of using their lab facilities for an On-Line Ordering trial.· Took part in meetings in Geneva and Berne to redefine testing and alliance building. · Took part in audio conference to revamp BW2k future marketing objectives.· QoS tests have been redefined completely to carry out the tests in the new laboratory in Basle using the latest version of the ATM switch now re-installed and reconnected to Internet. · Several tests to verify ATM Forum and ITU-T specifications for QoS are under way. · Attended trial planning and audit preparation meetings in Bern Basle and Waterford. · Provided all inputs to the documents for BW2k audit meeting in Brussels in October. · Took part in audio conference to discuss meeting agenda in Waterford· Search Web for online ordering scheme based on MPLS· Technical information on MPLS has been found and sent to SHERKIN· swisscom has been contacted regarding a meeting to discuss the use of their R&D facilities to carry out online ordering experiments. · Final Technical Audit preparations were conducted, with discussion via e-mail and phone, on the presentation material from SHERKIN, WIT and TMA, plus our own contributions from Martel.· Attended the Final Technical Audit meeting in Brussels on 25th October: the result was very successful with recommendation to 'continue' and just a few additional items for further incorporation.· Trial B2/Phase I (On-Line Accounting) - Conformance testing of ATM Quality of Service (QoS) Specs using ATM-Forum & International Telecommunication Union's (ITU) ATM Standards definitions - preparatory meeting was held in Bern on 21st November.· Attended and carried out the Trial B2/PhaseI on-site system preparation session in Basle on 28th November.· A meeting in Bern was held on13th December to discuss and prepare further contributions from Martel to the additional information requested by the auditors: SWOT report and future plans for exploitation of the results.· Performed Trial B2 tests on the MultiComLab (MCLAB) testbed in Basle on 18/19th December.· Prepared the compilation of the last quarterly report, and the project's Final Report.· Offered the testbed facilities in Basle to SHERKIN for use in future MPLS experiments.· Met and presented to top management of the multinational USHA Communications Technology's Asia Pacific Headquarter in India: Flexible Multi-Service Telecom Accounting System. USHA have developed, tested & installed, amongst others, swisscom's SMTS accounting and billing system for their cell-phone network in Switzerland. Further contacts for prospective joint marketing and collaboration now depend on our partner's business development synergy and commercial venture strategy.· B2 Trial Results for different types of traffic (video-conference, cd download etc based on their QoS traffic parameters), appear to conform to the stated limits set by ITU's ATM Standards committee, as well as the ATM Forum.
