Vibrations are the main limitation in most of machine tools. In particular on the spindles of the machine tools. And more in particular on HSC spindles.
Step Tec AG is a producer of HSC spindles.
The vibration on the spindle of a HSC machine has important consequences and in particular:
Life and reliability of the spindle could be dramatically reduced
Bad quality of the milled suface
Reduced tool life
The spindle model is a spindle of the Company Step Tec (42000 rpm, 14 Kw) which is mounted on the Huron KX10 Machine installed at the EICN (Le Locle).
The aim of the activity was:
Equip the spindle in order to monitor the vibrations (and other important parameters, i.e. temperatures, displacements of the rotor etc.)
Carry out tests and compare the results with the results obtained in EICN when using the Tool Deflection Device developed by EICN.
