TASK 1 AND 2
AS THE SUNSELECT AND THE BLACK CHROME COATING BOTH SHOW DEGRADATION AFTER ONE YEAR OF OUTDOOR EXPOSURE, FIRST INDOOR SCREENING TESTS WERE PERFORMED ON THEM. THE TESTS CONSIDERED CONDENSATION, HIGH HUMIDITY, HIGH HUMIDITY & RAIN AND HIGH HUMIDITY & UV IRRADIATION. WITH THE AVAILABILITY OF NEW COATINGS OF THE TYPE ‚SELECTIVE PAINT' AND ‚SOL-GEL', RESPECTIVELY, ADDITIONAL TESTS WERE PERFORMED SUCH AS HIGH TEMPERATURE AND CONDENSATION & UV IRRADIATION
TASK 3
THE AIM OF TASK 3 IS TO EVALUATE AND INVESTIGATE NEW HIGH PERFORMANCE UNGLAZED COLLECTORS, BOTH WITH LIQUID AND GASEOUS HEAT TRANSFER MEDIA.
A FIRST PROTOTYPE FOR LIQUID HEAT TRANSFER MEDIA HAS BEEN PRESENTED AT THE MID TERM MEETING IN BLUMAU, AUSTRIA.
FOR THE FURTHER DISCUSSION OF THE INFLUENCE OF COLLECTOR DESIGN AND PERFORMANCE, 4 CASE STUDIES ARE DEFINED. THE PERFORMANCE OF AN UNGLAZED COLLECTOR IS MAINLY GIVEN BY THE PROPERTIES (ABSORPTANCE, EMITTANCE) OF THE COATING AND THE COLLECTOR EFFICIENCY FACTOR OF THE ABSORBER. THE AIM OF THE CASE STUDIES IS TO DEMONSTRATE THE DIFFERENT INFLUENCES ON THE SYSTEM PERFORMANCE.
TASK 4
AN UNGLAZED COLLECTOR HAS BEEN TESTED ACCORDING TO THE 'QUASIDYNAMIC' TEST METHOD PROPOSED IN PREN 12975. THE COLLECTOR IS A CUSHION TYPE ABSORBER MADE OF STAINLESS STEEL. THE ABSORBER COATING IS SELECTIVE BLACK CHROME ON STAINLESS STEEL. IN VARIOUS TEST SEQUENCES THE RESULTS APPEARED TO BE STABLE AND RELIABLE. A COMPARISON TO THE WELL-KNOWN STEADY STATE METHOD SHOWED GOOD AGREEMENT. THE METHOD IS THEREFORE SUITABLE FOR TESTING THIS TYPE OF COLLECTOR. THE RESULTS SHOW THE EXTENT OF THE DEPENDENCE OF THE LOSSES ON WIND SPEED AND ON THE LEVEL OF IRRADIANCE.
