Abstract (English)

The IDEALIST project was a continuation of the former IDEALFIT project (bbw-nr. 96.0224), in which basically the same partners were involved. IDEALIST was still funded by the esprit programme but already covered aspects of the 5th framework programme.
The aim of the project was to make all actions of the INFORMATION Society Technology programme in the new 5th framework programme well-known in Europe. The project supports potential proposers and improves cooperation within Europe. Especially SME have the chance to learn how to act at European level and with this experience to extend their business activities in the future.
The project focused on awareness and information dissemination actions in the context of calls for proposals in the IST programme within the 5th framework programme, for which the first call for proposals was published march 19, 1999.
Activities of IDEALIST included a European wide internet supported partner search tool, which proved to be very successful for locating potential partners, support of brokerage events, proposal preparation workshops, awareness actions at European IT conferences etc.
Partners of the project include all national contact points (NCP) in Europe who, in their respective country, are responsible for dissemination of information and advising of proposers as regards the European RTD programme esprit. To coordinate and perform activities in this network of close to 20 partners, IDEALFIT set up a fast communication network which guarantees a fast and reliable exchange of information between all partners.
Results:
- Within IST the network of national contact points (NCP) plays an important role in the relation between the commission and the researchers. The Swiss NCP is fully integrated in this network, despite the fact that Switzerland is the only 'third country' in the network.
- The IDEALIST partner search tool was actively used by several Swiss organisations. Approximately 10 to 20 potential partners were found by each partner search. However, it is the responsibility of the searching organisation to select the most qualified partners.
- Through IDEALFIT activities several Swiss partners joined IST projects.
- The Swiss NCP actively supported European brokerage events, and Swiss organisations had an opportunity to present their project ideas and to locate potential partners.
