Abstract
(Englisch)
The Project's main objectives of EJTN are to develop synergies among European organisations, industries, research centres, academic organisations active in scientific and technological projects and training activities, involved in the European Jewellery Industry.
The European Jewellery Industry is considered to be of a relatively low technical level. There is a serious lack of knowledge on specific materials, low awareness of quality in process technologies, and most Countries suffer from a low level of technical training..
The European Jewellery Industry needs to be updated on the research projects closed and in progress and to be brought to a better and higher-level of technology through technology transfer from other industries. Dissemination of results deriving from these activities and training on latest technologies must be promoted and improved as well.

Apart from preparing and submitting new proposals, EJTN members exploit the knowledge and competencies acquired. As there is no other group like EJTN GEIE in the world, there is no competition: the Group has the best starting point.
The core EJTN can survive through the two on-going projects JEWELMED and PROMOMED until 2002.
Some proposals for new projects can be submitted.
The proposal for TNW-2 was submitted with the help and contribution of those interested partners

F. Arbini and W.van der Touw of Valcambi SA Switzerland, presented 'The year 2000 paradigm for integrated quality, health, safety and environment'. This report tackled the problem of the production quality, most important for precious metals with their very high added value. A global approach to the process is needed, with special care for work organisation and training requirements. A jewellery SME must adopt a model starting with self-assesment, take into account the environment protection problems and health and safety safeguard of workers. The result will be an increased of competitivity and cost decrease for jewellery SME.
