Résumé des résultats (Abstract)
(Anglais)
In the last period, we have been actively in our on-going collaboration with a few partner European teams, notably the Italian and Spanish teams. More over, we have extended our collaboration to some eastern European visitors on exceptional basis.
The most salient feature of the past year is that our research directions have gone one step further in the interdisciplinarity, that extending the general idea of using fractals scaling concept in modeling bio- and economic processes. At the beginning of 2002, we have hosted a 3-day workshop on the topic of Econophysics and Fractal modeling of financial fluctuations. Some of the well known physicists and economists participated this workshop, young researchers in Switzerland could benefit this opportunity to directly interact with the forerunners of the interdisciplinary field.
Another important event during the past year is that the Fribourg team and two most frequent collaborators (from Italy and UK), have been invited by Oxford University Press to compile a book, based on the Minority Game model which was the main result during the past few years, to a large measure supported by the TMR 'FRACTALS' grant. This book is well developped, and this summer should be delivered. Since the Minority Game published five years ago, it has been cited over 100 times by ISI system, and the Fribourg team with its visitors have published about 15 papers, together with 20 papers on this MG model by other teams, selected from about 120 papers so far published on this subject, the new book is a collection of reprints, plus a pedagogical part, aimed to give general readers and experts alike a coherent view of this fast developing field.
We hope to prolongate one more time our project, using the small amount of remaining resources, to complete a few current topics, as well as to assure the final phase of the above mentioned book.
