Résumé des résultats (Abstract)
(Anglais)
During this research period, our activities were focused on a detailed characterization of disk bender actuators for vibration and noise control. A disk bender consists of two quite thin piezoelectric disks glued together by a conductive very thin passive layer. Actuators of different size were fabricated at LC-EPFL and their properties were compared to that of similar commercial actuators. In particular, we explored and demonstrated a possibility to reduce the fabrication costs and to improve actuator characteristics. Properties such as displacement-field hysteresis, blocking force, and resonance, which are relevant for active control applications, were studied in detail
A Finite-Element program for piezoelectric actuator modeling was purchased and was used to map the 'displacement-force' properties as a function of the disk-bender dimensions.
