Abstract (English)

Within the EUROgatherer project
· advanced Web-based personalized information gathering and delivery services were realized, while
· Internet services already provided by the industrial partners of the project consortium were extended and improved.
The EURogatherer solution is able to satisfy a registered user's long and short term information needs by discovering and appropriately providing relevant information gathered from various distributed sources. The corresponding functionalities are provided by autonomous interoperable services (User lnterface service, Profiling service, Delivery service, Pull service, Push service, Dispatcher service, Wrapper service, Gatherer service) that can be federated in various manners, depending on the application-specific functionality requirements.
Latest techniques of user profiling, information filtering and classification, information brokering and relevance feedback have strongly influenced the services development. In order to provide an open system architecture, existing standards have been used whenever possible.
A service evaluation has been carried out in order to verify the completeness of the planned functionality and to measure the solution's overall performance.
The EUROgatherer solution supports a generic personalized information gathering service. Moreover, it can also be easily customized, due to its open architecture, to support specific information gathering applications in the e-commerce domain.
