Résumé des résultats (Abstract)
(Anglais)
To reconstruct Holocene climate change at the Atlantic fringe of Europe through the detailed study of thick, laminated, calcareous sediments, from An Loch Mór, Inis Oírr, Aran Islands, W. Ireland. Until now, the vast majority of lakes where detailed multidisciplinary investigations have been carried out are from continental Europe where, in recent years, several lakes with varved sediments have been located, cored and studied. Few such studies have been attempted in Atlantic Europe and yet it is precisely in this region that changes in conditions in the Atlantic Ocean, which has a major influence on climate, are most likely to be strongly reflected. TIMECHS aims to redress the gap in the existing European network of terrestrial sites through the study of a lake, completely surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, at the most westerly point in Europe
