The eRENA project is focused on inhabited information spaces to support new forms of cultural experience spanning arts, performance and entertainment. We refer to these kinds of spaces as electronic-arenas. In eRENA long term research is involved into a range of 'spatial technologies', understanding of social interaction.
LIG has contributed by developing original models for crowd simulation. The models have been mainly used for two purposes:
· Mixing Realities
The goal was to investigate the communication between the virtual crowd and the real people. This work has involved the directness ability of the virtual crowds as well as their ability to assume autonomous behaviors.
· Evaluating Virtual Crowds
This research has included the evaluation and comparison of results obtained using the LIG system to model crowds (named ViCrowd). The evaluation has been made using the system VisSim (a system which goal is capturing and presenting information about behavior and motion of crowds).
The main work in the last year of the project has been the integration between the Population model and the Crowd model. This was successful and a video has been produced.
