Abstract
(Englisch)
EUROPRACTICE MCM (EPMCM) was initiated to establish a network that can provide advanced packaging and MCM technology to European industry. The objective was to facilitate the transfer of advanced packaging technologies from existing manufacturing resources to new users. EPMCM also aimed to shorten the time from development and advanced prototypes to availability of competitive technology and commercial acceptance.
In order to reach potential users EPMCM was focussing on dissemination and marketing to European industry on the needs and problems in new and existing products using electronics.
EPMCM offered a co-ordinated, independent, pan European, yet locally available resource for:
· Dissemination and training
· Sales and marketing
· Application support / feasibility study / design
· Manufacturing / technical resources
enabling open market manufacturers to bring miniaturised electronic systems to volume production.
For this reason EPMCM established a Manufacturers Network which currently contains over 25 of the leading manufacturers in micro electronics in Europe.
Together, EPMCM was able to support users of the new technologies with the appropriate solutions to their needs and problems.
To proceed with the services over the end of EPMCM several spin-off companies have been established during EPMCM. One of those is Art of Technology AG, which has been founded in October 1999 as a spin-off of The Electronics Lab of ETH Zurich. Art of Technology aims to support OEMs with turn-key solutions for miniaturized electronic systems, from feasibility study to volume production.
