Résumé des résultats (Abstract)
(Anglais)
The complexity of today's engineering simulations demands the use of many HPCN and engineering simulation tools be end-users. All of these tools need to be accessible to the engineer and, ideally, in a seamless environment. Simultaneously, issues such as 'time to market' demand significant reductions complex simulation system to control, both the hardware and the software, and the human productivity needs to increase to achieve order of magnitude reductions in design time for many applications including CFD and the introduction of grater efficiency into the end-user interface becomes crucial. The multitude of tools needed for a single complex simulation brings a number of bottlenecks are prioritised and addressed in the Julius project, a major ESPRIT/HPCN activity driven by industrial partners form the European aerospace industry and involving different software suppliers as well as research institutes as technology providers. The objective of this project is to develop an integrated functional HPCN environment for simulation in multiple discipline, to provide this environment, to put developments in place to remove the main limitations and bottlenecks in engineering simulation, prioritised by the industrial end-user, and to demonstrate the entire system working with embedded applications software for real industrial problems including multi-site cooperative working. The project is commerced February 1st 1998.

CSCS is involved in the pre-processing and code coupling domain encompassing topics such as CAD control and repair, the tools development for advanced grid generation techniques and, furthermore, together with one of the industrial partners, CSCS will develop interfacing modules to enable the couple fluid/structure analysis finally demonstrated by an aereolasticity simulation of a complete aircraft.
