Further Perspectives
In the first months of the year 2000 the three original CESAR partner operators Cemat, Hupac and Kombiverkehr will put the results of the research project into practice. CESAR, initially developed and tested on the North South alpine corridor, will then be generally accessible for all their customers. It will also be open for other CT operators.
A follow-up project named CESAR II has already been accepted within the fifth Framework Programme and will be supported by the European Commission and the Swiss Federal Department for Research and Education. In addition to the initial partners, the CT-operators Novatrans (FR), Hungarokombi (HU) and Swe-Kombi (SE) have joined the development group.
CESAR II will enable operators to provide an enlarged service by adding new functions like:
· extensions for multimodal chains including short sea, Eurotunnel traffic and Eastern European traffic (external EU frontiers, customs);
· automatic inclusion of tracking and tracing data from different sources;
· management of irregularities.
The CESAR II project will start in the beginning of 2000 for a three years development period. Information will be available in the 'news' section of the CESAR server:
