Objectives
The primary goal of the GINA project is to harmonise, enhance and disseminate so-called 'Guidelines' about network evolution, network interoperability and ATM deployment, reflecting the latest findings and results of trials within the ACTS Programme. The initial information for these Guidelines is provided by projects working in the so-called 'Chain Group': Network Interoperability (NI), but is supplemented by global reports on world-wide evolutionary trends in network interoperability, and the development and deployment of broadband networks, mobile networks, and network management systems. GINA supports the work of the NI Chain Group through editorial, administrative and organisational assistance. Specifically, GINA provides the Chain chairmen, Guideline editors, assistance for the organisation of the Chain Group meetings, workshops and conferences (locations and content material), and has a liaison function with the EU Commission and many other European and International bodies.
GINA partners continued to liaise with the following organisations: ETSI, ITU-T, ATM Forum, Eurescom, Network Management Forum, OMG, and work closely with the ACTS Programme-level information collection and dissemination projects: INFOWIN, CONVAIR, FAIR, and the new project: ACTSLINE.

MARTEL's contributions were:
Chairing the NI Chain Group. Support of the ACTS Steering Committee. for Guidelines and maintaining the official Guideline list and workplan. Chairing of the NIG Chain. Production and editing of NIG Guidelines especially NIG4: 'Network Interoperability Issues from ACTS trials'. Chairing of the IP/ATM cluster. Production of an article for ACTS publication on behalf of all the IP/ATM projects, on the topic of IP-ATM Trials and Results.
Supporting TELSCOM in the preparation of IDC'99 conference, with special attention to requirements for networking and demonstrations. Drafting and reviewing of Guidelines produced by the NIG Chain, in view of their introduction on the server and publishing in books and CD-Roms.
Planning of the different Guideline tranches for publishing and contribution to the final editing of Guidelines before publication.
