Abstract
(English)
For some years, organic materials transformation industry is submitted to an increased pressure of international legislations concerning volatile organic components release in the atmosphere (COV/VOC). In this context, industry working in the automotive and aeronautic sectors are confronted today with these foreseeable constraints; this is particularly true in the manufacturing key step of implementing the moulding-demoulding operation involving solvants and organic materials. In order to anticipate foreseeable evolutions the COMPETE project intends to study and to develop a permanent anti-adherence coating on industrial moulds; this innovative coating based on the recently discovered properties of quasicrystals has been extensively explored to be of industrial use on the manufacturing moulds.
This two years project was by itself a challenge, with a substantial scientific risk associated with quasicrystals high innovation degree and the associated difficulties linked to realise industrial coatings fullfilling the end users requirements.
