Résumé des résultats (Abstract)
(Anglais)
The Concerted Action (CA) ENMARIA provided, for the first time in Europe, a forum for open discussion, co-ordination of projects and exchange of results on a wide range of activities related to the rapidly increasing problems caused by resistance to insecticides and acaricides. The CA has convened two very successful resistance management workshops and provided support for several short-time visits to train researchers in new methods to assess levels of pesticide resistance and to use biochemical and molecular technology to detect pesticide resistance. Our laboratory hosted two visitors, one from Spain and one from Israel, respectively. Within this CA we continued and successfully finished our development of a robust bioassay to test pesticide susceptibility levels in small arthropods. The new bioassay could be thoroughly tested and compared to alternative tests for several weeks together with a research technican from New Zealand. The CA initiated a status report in each of the 13 EU and EFTA countries on the situation of resistance to insecticides and acaricides. This compilation now provides valuable information to identify pests and areas with the highest risks for crop and lifestock production. Based on this information, the CA decided at the last management meeting to elaborate several research projects on high risk pests to be submitted to the EU as a project-cluster in fall 2000.
