Abstract
(English)
The assessment of NL components for the purpose of adequacy evaluation, quality assurance, or related objectives, is often severe hampered by the lack of suitable test material and technology we fulfil the requirements of affordability, augmentability, adaptability, and acceptability. The objective of the project is to develop the methods and tools for the evaluation of NLP component The package resulting from the project, consisting of reusable, generalized, and customizable reference data, tools, and method logy, has the potential of leading to a new paradigm in the diagnosis and evaluation of natural language components and applications. The project builds on the results of the previous projects TSNLP, FraCas, TEMAA and EAGLES, covering different aspects of assessment and evaluation. DIET will extend and develop substantial amounts of test data for three different languages, German, French and English. It will provide the appropriate usE support in terms of database technology, test suite construction tools and graphical interfaces and it will address the issues involved in the customization of test material to specific domains and applications.
