Production of materials for the collaborative study

Untreated corps
New batches of frozen untreated tomatoes and apples were cryogenically milled and subsamples have been prepared.

Treated crops (Apples, tomatoes and wheat)
Subsamples have been prepared and homogeneity studies have been carried out to ensure that every participants will receive the same material. Homogeneity data were satisfactory for all the compounds included in the study.

Stability study of test material during transport.
The worst possible conditions, which may have been predicted during the transport of test materials to participants, were simulated. Samples analysed in duplicate have shown that, within the scope of analytical variability, no significant losses could be detected.

Distribution of samples to participants.
All test materials were packed in dry ice inside thick walled polystyrene boxes and dispached to participating laboratories. All samples were received between 1 and 3 days after sending.

Participation in the validation study.
Analyses of samples containing incurred residues as well as recovery tests (by analysing blank materials to which aliquots of standard solutions were added) have been performed on the materials prepared. Even the report is not yet completed, it is already known that satisfactory results have been obtained.

Stability Study on the Test Material for the duration of Phase IV
Each of the 3 test materials was analysed in duplicate at about 2 weekly intervals thoughout the period allowed for Phase IV (about 10 weeks).
Within the scope of analytical variability, all the pesticides were found to be stable for the full duration of the intercomparison study.
