Résumé des résultats (Abstract)
(Anglais)
The Esprit III project OSACA (Open System Architecture for Controls within Automation Systems, EP 6379) was initiated in the year 1992 with the aim to unite European interests and to create a vendor-neutral standard for open control systems. It is supported by major European control vendors. The project has concluded its second phase (EP 9115 OSACA 2) in April 96 and has reached a mature state having at its disposal a stable set of specifications and a tested pool for system software. First national and regional OSACA based projects are already established.
Goals of IDAS-OSACA
A European wide package of actions communicate the results and benefits of OSACA to users in the machinery Industry creating a momentum strong enough to establish OSACA as an industrial standard. It shall unite the interests of users and foster national and regional initiatives. It must obtain the lead in an initiative producing a significant effect in European industry which is also able to offer solutions to the requirements arising in the USA and Japan.
The actions have the goal to provide users in the manufacturing industry with information about OSACA on management but also on a technical level to promote the rapid take-up of results in industrial products. The actions intend moreover to establish bilateral relationships with regional, national and European projects to serve as a turntable for information and experience on open control systems.
Information shall be prepared in various ways like a book (handbook of the latest and valid specifications),brochures and demonstration applications. Seminars, courses, workshops, participation on fairs, individual contacts and a WWW-server is established to approach users. The collaboration with CECIMO will be used for organizing events with the national machine tool builder associations. Special attention will be paid to SMEs for which a package with individual consultations is foreseen.
The actions are part of the overall strategy of the OSACA consortium to establish OSACA as an international standard for open control systems. There is a coordination with the association
'Open Systems Architecture for Controls Association', (OSACA e.V) the European user group of vendors and suppliers of open control systems.
