The project will provide the means to control and improve manufacturing quality in the aircraft and automotive construction industry. The quality check will cover four levels of data abstraction: Acquisition and visualisation of raw data, analysis of surfaces relating to CAD data, determination of quality features and metrics, modelling and improving the quality of the whole manufacturing process. 1) Implementation of Axyz view I CAD, a visualization and Inspection Tool The Axyz SW platform integrates theodolite and laser tracker based measurement systems The Axyz VIEW/CAD Inspection module, developed within MeDIaTe, is an integral part of Axyz and is mainly going to be used on shop floor level for on-line and off-line CAD building and inspection. It helps to improve their measurement and building I inspection process using CAD data. Mother application is the usage in the office area for off-line data analysis. The SW is running on W1N95 198 and NT platforms. The Axyz View / CAD module is used for visualization of all measured or imported entities (points, shapes, sensors, etc.). It supports the different measurement modes (Standard, Build/Inspect of Shapes or Points) and' is used for on-line error analysis. It allows to read and write CAD models (curves, surfaces) into graphics in different file formats (IGES, VDA-FS, DXF, IMW) and enables to execute comparisons between CAD models and points. It supports the CAD Build I Inspect and CAD-Online Compare modes. Following main specifications have been implemented: · Structured 3D visualization of all measurements, devices, sensors and CAD entities, using colors, symbols and layers. · Building and Inspection of points, curves or free form surfaces, i.e. on-line companson of measured points with CAD entities including corrections for reflector and/or target thickness offset. · CAD Compare with color-coded error maps: Offline / Online Comparison of measured point sets with CAD Models. · CAD Transformation by surface best fit · Import I Export of CAD Models in IGES, VDA, DXF or lmageWare(IMW) files. · Creation of reports. 2) Online Link to Robot Controller Dassault Aviation had to demonstrate the feasibility of using a remote measuring system with an anthropomorphic robot to perform 3D measurements of a Falcon aircraft wing panel, to avoid the need for expensive steel jigs. The end-effector was designed to place the reflector on the wing panel. Implementation: A translation speed rate of >O.2m/sec and a force applied on the wing panel during the measurement phase of <2N was required. Axyz has been linked to the Robot Controller via a serial link based on a Master/Slave data transfer. A visual Basic script communicates between Axyz and the Robot Controller, using the Axzy OLE Automation interface.
