Abstract
(English)
The EXODUS project has investigated experimental UMTS deployment by implementing mobile multimedia services in ATM networks using DECT and B-ISDN access. Intelligent Network (IN) techniques were used to manage mobility and call related signalling. Demonstrators and user trials took place in Switzerland and Italy.

Swisscom led two work packages: Evaluation and Exploitation of Results and User Trials. It also contributed to the evaluation of results, to the completeness and consistency of deliverables, to the dissemination of results, and to contributions to standardization. It provided an important part of the framework for demonstrations and user trials.

Swisscom contributed to the project methodology and provided a substantial part of the service description for the B-ISDN experiments as well as a large part of the functional network architecture and reference configuration for the trials. It contributed to the definition of interfaces and protocols, including addressing, mobility concepts and information flows. Other inputs included the location management inter-working.
