Résumé des résultats (Abstract)
(Anglais)
The expert testbed in Basel was enhanced and used to determine the critical factors in ensuring integral ATM network performance, ie. The integration of different service types (eg. Real-time and non real-time) and their control to ensure the maintenance of end-to-end QOS. Multimedia applications and sophisticated traffic generation and analysis equipment were used to demonstrate the optimal integration and control of a wide variety of traffic sources.
ICA purpose was twofold: 1) with resource management to demonstrate the traffic aggregation, the dynamic use of virtual trunks, and dynamic routing scheme. 2) with signaling is to provide an ATM platform and guaranteed QOS references. During the duration of the project, we designed and completed and tested 2 implementations :1) the software for resource management and routing (RM&R) based on the concept of dynamic virtual trunks on the expert testbed in Basel. Conforming to the architecture defined in the previous years we conducted trials where we dynamically reallocated the trunks while optimising the resources usage. 2) the code for ATM on linux with the arequipa protocol, the first ATM code with re-negotiation capability, we conducted several video conferences with QOS demo with Finland and over the ATM wan of Swisscom.
Finally, we disseminated our results with several journal and conference papers.
