Building on the success of recent IAC editions, interest from the Swiss space ecosystem has grown significantly. With over 10,000 delegates attending from around the world, the congress represents a key economic opportunity for both industry and public stakeholders. In this context, discussions have begun to prepare SwissMEM’s candidacy to host the IAC in 2029. Since November 2024, under the responsibility of the Swiss space industry group (SSIG) from SwissMEM, preliminary work was made to assess the feasibility of such congress in Switzerland from technical and economical points of view. SXS supported this initiative by contributing the experience of the national pavilions in Paris and Milano during the preliminary discussions and by organising the Swiss booth at IAC 2025 in Sydney.
Those discussions and meetings during the IAC 2025 in Sydney confirmed the determination of SwissMEM for the candidacy which will officially start in December 2025 with the issue of the letter of intent to IAF until October 2026 when the city will be selected during the IAC 2026 in Antalya, Turkey. During this period, SXS will ensure the engagement and showcasing of the Swiss space ecosystem and work on the representation of the whole space community at IAC 2026.
Therefore, this funding application shall cover the activities of SXS and more specifically the following tasks:
- Plan, organize and coordinate the Swiss presence at IAC 2026 in Antalya, Turkey with a Swiss pavilion.
- Contribute to the candidacy process in view of aligning the Swiss pavilion with the objectives of the candidacy.
- Ensure an access for the whole Swiss space ecosystem to IAC 2026
