The main objective of this project is to improve our understanding and ability to predict the influence of forests on flow characteristics around wind turbines, wake development, and turbine performance. To achieve this, the project will rely on a synergistic combination of large-scale simulations, wind tunnel experiments, and field measurements. Ultimately, it aims to provide a validated modeling tool and practical recommendations for the design and performance evaluation of wind farms in forested areas. The resulting prediction framework should help optimize wind energy exploitation in forested environments, in line with Switzerland's Energy Strategy 2050.
