Angular Momentum Resolved Partial Densities of States

The aluminium valence band electronic density of states (DOS) as derived from X-ray photoelectron energy distribution curves (EDC's) was experimentally disentangled into the s and p-derived partial densities of states. This was realized in exploiting the different photoemission cross section anisotropies i.e. in measuring the EDC's at the same photon energy and the same emission angle but at different orientations of the light polarization relative to the electron detector.
A publication of this new method for the experimental determination of angular momentum resolved partial densities of states is in preparation.
