Short description (English)

The Standards Map, launched in 2011 by the International Trade Centre (ITC), is the world’s leading database for voluntary sustainability standards (VSS). Supported by BMZ and SECO, it provides transparent information on over 300 VSS using 1,600+ sustainability criteria. This evaluation assesses the quality of its criteria and data collection, identifies gaps, and explores its relevance and potential in supporting ESG-related due diligence in a shifting regulatory landscape. The evaluation examines the ITC Standards Map’s sustainability criteria, its data collection process, and identifies areas for improvement. It also assesses the tool’s relevance for due diligence, especially in addressing ESG risks, and provides recommendations to better align the database with current due diligence requirements.
