Currently, the detail sensitivity of Industrial Computed Tomography (iCT) systems is evaluated by human operators which is unreliable and costly. Therefore, there is a need to develop traceable measurement and monitoring methods for determining the detail sensitivity of iCT systems and its standardisation. This project aims to address this need through the development of a) novel traceable test gauges to be measured in iCT systems and b) the respective evaluation algorithms, which will increase the reliability of the measurements of iCT detail sensitivity. By developing automated detail sensitivity monitoring for iCT systems, the project will provide the necessary metrological reliability of iCT in industry, including the automotive and aerospace sectors, and help to improve the safety of their products. Further to this, the project’s results will be disseminated to relevant standard organisations, e. g. CEN/TC 138 and ISO/TC 135, in order to support their uptake and incorporation into standards at the earliest opportunity.
