Kurzbeschreibung
(Englisch)
Realizing the growing relevance of the private sector and responsible water stewardship, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) launched the "Promoting Water Stewardship 2030" Programme in 2018. The objective of Phase 2 (2021-2024) of the programme is to establish credible water stewardship as a globally adopted, respected norm and as an effective approach to support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6. Focusing on four key sectors – namely agriculture, food & beverage, ICT, and textiles - the programme aims to drive tangible results in priority catchments. It advocates for cohesive water governance, involving civil society in solutions and accountability. Additionally, it stresses sustainable water management via consumer and investor participation. The programme is implemented by three established water stewardship partners: Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS), CDP, and Water Witness International (WWI). The evaluation aimed (1) to provide an impartial assessment of the outcomes achieved during Phase 2 of the programme, including the current status, lessons learned, and short-term recommendations for the remaining months of Phase 2, and (2) to offer insights and recommendations to shape the potential design of Phase 3 and to inform SDC’s engagement in water stewardship more broadly (beyond 2024 and beyond this programme).
