Der Auftrag der Schweizerischen Nationalbibliothek beinhaltet die langfristige Aufbewahrung und Erhaltung der Helvetica-Sammlung. Im Dienst Konservierung werden laufend kleinere Forschungsprojekte ausgeführt. Themen: Untersuchung und Auswahl alterungsbeständiger Stempelfarben, Untersuchung der Luftqualität in den Magazinräumen und in Schachteln;Partner im DORE-Projekt "Pollution Pathways", Alterungsbeständigkeit von Papieren und Fotopapieren, Klebstoffen, Etiketten, Methoden der wässrigen und nichtwässrigen Entsäuerung von Papier, Weiterentwicklung des SurveNIR-Gerätes (Erkennung von Zellulose-basierten Filmträgern), Optimierung der Lagerbedingungen für Zelluloseacetat- und Zellulosenitratnegative, Papierentsäuerung: Langzeitkontrolle

The task of the Swiss national library is the long-term storage and preservation of the Helvetica collection. In the conservation service constantly smaller research projects are implemented. Topics: Investigation and selection of stamping inks, investigation into the air quality in the magazine areas and in boxes; oartner in the DORE-project "Pollution Pathways"; aging performance of papers, photo papers, adhesives, labels, methods of aqueous and not-aqueous deacidification of paper, further development of the SurveNIR equipment (identification of cellulose based film carriers), optimization of the storage conditions for cellulose acetate and nitrate negatives, mass deacidification: long term control
