Deep geothermal energy (DGE) holds promise as a widespread energy source for heating and power, pivotal in achieving climate neutrality by 2050. Yet, its global adoption face challenges such as induced earthquakes, societal acceptance, and economic viability decline due to inadequate production rates and high costs. Digital Twins offer an innovative solution to optimize and de-risk DGE generation. GEOTWINS aims to create modular, interoperable digital twin components (DTC), tailored for geothermal systems, and demonstrate them at TRL levels 7-8 in diverse operational environments. By integrating prior experience, data, and physics-based models, we aim to comprehensively represent geothermal systems. The DTC-based workflows will guide operators and regulators from exploration to post-production stages aided by open-source visualization and decisionmaking tools. Ultimately, our objective is to create an accurate digital representation of DGE reservoirs connected to real-time data flows.
