Large compressors are available for hydrogen storage (e.g., > 200 kg/h). Oil-free compressors are hardly available for smaller quantities.
The research work consists, among other things, of tribological development for:
• Piston/cylinder pairings
• Suitable piston ring materials, roller bearings, and compressor valves
The innovation lies in the following areas:
• Oil-free compression up to 500 bar
• Piston sealing with split ring sealing principle
• Hermetic drive
• Maintenance-free compressor valves
• Low vibration and noise
• Compact design with good accessibility
• Easy maintenance through module replacement
Ecological and economic added value:
• Storage of excess electricity
• Recompression of inherent leaks in large compressors (crosshead design with stuffing boxes), which are currently released into the atmosphere
• Refueling for trucks with PV systems on site (own consumption): supplementing the comprehensive refueling network
• Compressors for P-t-G systems and for methanol production, etc.
