This evaluation looked into Tech4Dev’s and ETH4D’s achievements on the basis of the specific objectives of SDC’s support to the initiatives, as well as their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, risks and lessons learnt. It aimed to provide an improved knowledge base and deepened understanding of effective approaches and decisive factors to successfully bridge the gap between research and practice and to provide actionable recommendations for EPFL, ETH and the SDC on how to improve their initiatives and partnership models in order to foster impactful research for development. Thus, the focus of this evaluation is mainly on learning and steering. The learnings and recommendations of this evaluation shall feed into further development of both initiatives and inform SDC’s future engagement.
