In the first step, the basics for loading and unloading delivery vehicles and for the use of traffic areas are prepared. In a second step, stakeholder groups and their current and future demands for use of the public road space relevant for goods handling and conflicts of use are identified. In a third step, the process and criteria for a balancing of interests for planning goods handling are defined. In a fourth step, existing good practices and new approaches for loading and unloading delivery vehicles in public space are identified and evaluated. In a fifth step, "standard solutions" for the loading/unloading of delivery vehicles are defined from the proven existing solutions and suitable new solutions. For the other usage requirements, standard solutions are derived from existing projects, standards and planning guidelines. The application possibilities of the standard solutions are shown for different types of spaces and their applicability is validated. The planning principles and guidelines will be prepared in a draft REG standard, which will be finalised by the VSS NFK 6.3 Freight Transport Facilities and Intermodality. In a sixth step, the results and findings of the research project will be documented in a research report.
