Kurzbeschreibung (Deutsch)

Der Schutz und die Nutzung der Biodiversität ist eine der grössten Herausforderungen der Zukunft. Der Landwirtschaft kommt hier eine zentrale Bedeutung zu, stehen eine produzierende Landwirtschaft und die Biodiversität doch in enger Wechselbeziehung. So ist die Landwirtschaft auf intakte Agrarökosysteme angewiesen und erbringt neben den Produktions- für diese Systeme auch Pflegeleistungen. Intakte Agrarökosysteme erbringen ihrerseits wichtige Ökosystemleistungen und tragen zur Erhaltung der Arten- und Habitatvielfalt der Agrarlandschaft bei. Die Realität zeigt aber, dass die Erbringung dieser Leistungen durch eine intensive Produktion wie auch durch die Aufgabe von Grenzertragsflächen tangiert wird.

Als Grundlage für die Erarbeitung von Strategien zur Erhaltung der Arten- und Habitatvielfalt gemäss den Zielen des Bundes betreibt Agroscope ein Monitoring der Biodiversität in der Agrarlandschaft. Dieses erlaubt eine Wirkungskontrolle der Biodiversitätsbeiträge. Darauf aufbauend werden Vorschläge für die Verbesserung der Effizienz des ökologischen Ausgleichs erarbeitet. Gleichzeitig werden Strategien entwickelt, um Ökosystemleistungen wie Bestäubung und Nützlingsförderung zu optimieren und damit die landwirtschaftliche Produktion zu unterstützen.

The protection and use of biodiversity is one of the greatest challenges of the future. In this regard, agriculture assumes a key significance, since a productive agricultural sector and biodiversity are closely interrelated. Thus, agriculture is dependent upon intact agroecosystems, and in addition to production services also provides support services for the latter. Intact agroecosystems provide important ecosystem services, and contribute to the preservation of the species- and habitat diversity of the agricultural landscape. In reality, though, it is clear that the provision of these services is affected by intensive production, as well as by the abandonment of marginal land.

Agroscope monitors biodiversity in the agricultural landscape as a basis for developing strategies for the preservation of species- and habitat diversity according to the aims of the Swiss Confederation. This enables an assessment of the impact of biodiversity payments. Building on this, suggestions for improving the efficiency of ecological compensation are developed. Simultaneously, strategies are being developed to optimise ecosystem services such as pollination and the encouragement of beneficials, and thereby support agricultural production.

La protection de la biodiversité et son exploitation figurent parmi les grands défis à venir. L’agriculture joue ici un rôle central, car biodiversité et agriculture productive sont étroitement liées. En effet, l’agriculture dépend d’agro-écosystèmes intacts et, parallèlement à ses prestations en matière de production, elle contribue à l’entretien de ces systèmes. Des agro-écosystèmes intacts offrent pour leur part des prestations écosystémiques importantes et contribuent à préserver la diversité des espèces et des habitats du paysage rural. Dans la réalité, on constate toutefois que ces prestations sont remises en question par une production intensive et l’abandon de surfaces à rendement marginal.

Afin de pouvoir établir des stratégies de préservation de la diversité des espèces et des habitats, conformément aux objectifs de la Confédération, Agroscope mène un monitoring de la biodiversité du paysage rural. Ce suivi permet d’évaluer les effets des contributions à la biodiversité et, à partir de là, de soumettre des propositions visant à améliorer l’efficacité de la compensation écologique. Parallèlement, il faut développer des stratégies pour optimiser les prestations écosystémiques, telles que la pollinisation et la promotion des auxiliaires, dans le but de soutenir la production agricole.

La protezione e l’utilizzo della biodiversità figurano tra le sfide più importanti da affrontare in futuro. L’agricoltura ha, a tal riguardo, una valenza centrale alla luce delle strette interazioni esistenti tra l’agricoltura produttiva e la biodiversità. Se da un lato l’agricoltura dipende da agroecosistemi intatti e fornisce loro prestazioni in termini sia di produzione sia di cura, dall’altro agroecosistemi intatti forniscono importanti servizi ecosistemici e contribuiscono alla preservazione della diversità delle specie e degli habitat del paesaggio agricolo. Di fatto, però, la fornitura di questi servizi è messa a rischio da una produzione intensiva e anche dall’abbandono delle superfici con rese marginali.

Quale fondamento per l’elaborazione di strategie volte a preservare la diversità delle specie e degli habitat secondo gli obiettivi della Confederazione, Agroscope gestisce un monitoraggio della biodiversità nel paesaggio agricolo, che consente di monitorare l’impatto dei contributi per la biodiversità. Partendo da questa base, si formulano proposte per migliorare l’efficienza della compensazione ecologica. Al contempo vengono sviluppate strategie per ottimizzare servizi ecosistemici come, per esempio, l’impollinazione e la promozione di organismi utili, onde sostenere la produzione agricola.
