The project concerns asphalt mixes used for heavy loaded surfaces and the study of technical solutions to optimise the performance of these construction materials. After an extensive analysis of the literature in the field, a selection of alternatives (additives) will be tested in the laboratory. The laboratory results will be used to identify the most promising solutions, which will then be tested at real scale (production and installation tests). On the basis of these results (mechanical performance) and an overall assessment, recommendations can then be formulated and input for good practice and standardisation in the field provided.

Le projet concerne les enrobés bitumineux utilisés pour surfaces à fortes sollicitations et l'étude de solutions techniques permettant d'optimiser les performances de ces matériaux de construction. Après une analyse étendue de la littérature dans le domaine, une sélection de variantes (additifs) seront testées au laboratoire. Les résultats de laboratoire permettront d'identifier les solutions les plus prometteuses qui seront ensuite testées en vraie grandeur (essai de production et pose). Sur la base de ces résultats (performances mécaniques) et d'une évaluation globale, des recommandations pourront alors être formulées et un apport pour la bonne pratique et normalisation dans le domaine fourni.

The overall objective of the project is to provide the technical and scientific basis for
high performance asphalt mixes for heavy loaded surfaces. In order
achieve this overall objective, the following contributions have been identified:
- Proposal of a typology of recommended materials and additives, according to the requirements
and sollicitations,
- Consideration of the possibilities of repairing existing pavements,
- Proposal of a global assessment based in particular on ICV and ACC analyses of the various technical
technical solutions,
- Provide a concrete input for standardisation.

L’objectif global du projet consiste à fournir les bases techniques et scientifiques afin de proposer
des enrobés bitumineux à performances élevées pour surfaces à fortes sollicitations. Afin
d’atteindre cet objectif global, les contributions suivantes ont été identifiées :
- Proposition d’une typologique de matériaux et additifs recommandés, ceci selon les exigences
et sollicitations,
- Prise en compte des possibilités de réfection des chaussées existantes,
- Proposition d’un bilan global se basant notamment des analyses ICV et ACC des différentes
solutions techniques,
- Fournir un apport concret pour la normalisation.
