The objective of the assessment was to conduct a culture market systems diagnosis in Somalia (including Somaliland) and North-Eastern Kenya. The exercise also involved assessing the feasibility of intervention by SDC, following recommendations from a recent study titled ‘Culture sector evaluation for the Horn of Africa’. The assessment also seeked to understand the relevance (socio-cultural, peace and economic growth) of the culture market, constraints and opportunities for market growth. The idea was to get a high-level broad analysis of the culture market and to assess if a Market Systems Development (MSD) approach would be able to yield concrete results. The report provided good direction and firts insights for a deeper assessment.
