The introduction of autonomous vehicles is expected to lead to a significant increase in traffic. Shared autonomous vehicles will make it easier to pool rides and might lead to higher vehicle occupancy depending on market and regulatory conditions. But neither the acceptance nor the operation of ridepooling are sufficiently well understood to inform policy making. The project pursues two objectives i) to identify the behavioral factors of ride pooling with autonomous vehicles and ii) to simulate the impact of such a service under different regulatory conditions and fleet sizes.
